Woman Holds Onto Lost Ring 30 Years Before Real Origin Emerges

Whether it be your phone, your keys, or anything else in your pockets, objects are bound to get lost. So when Amanda Lager dug up an old high school class ring in the dirt in Missouri, she didn't think much of it at first. Back then, she had no idea what journey that mysterious ring would bring her on — or the history the ring held.

Decades-Old Vacation

When Amanda Lager went on a fishing trip to Lake Annette, Missouri, with her dad in the late '80s, she couldn't help but find herself basking in the boredom of the father-daughter bonding expedition.

Digging Around

Her boredom had her literally digging around for entertainment. “I was bored, digging around in the dirt and I happened to look down and see a shiny little circle in the mud,” Amanda explained to ABC affiliate KMBC.

Buried Treasure

She showed her sparkly find, which was a Belton High School Class of 1967 ring, to her father, who cleaned it and put it away for safe keeping. The ring was forgotten for several years, probably stuffed in some neglected drawer... until 2019.

Rediscovery

Nearly three decades after she found it, Amanda was helping her father move when she stumbled upon the ring. She hadn't thought about it, or the trip, in years. Hello, old friend.
