Newly-Rescued Kitten Insists On Bringing His New 'Friend' Everywhere

As kids, we all had some ratty old blanket or a rancid teddy bear that we wouldn't dare let leave our sides. It was a talisman of comfort: a constant reminder of the cozy protection offered by a bed full of stuffed animals. Incredibly, it's not just humans that carry treasures. One North Carolina kitten can relate to this sweet sentiment. he needed something to soothe his raging abandonment issues, and his rescuers had just the thing.

A cry for help

What was that? The faint, high-pitched sound of whining, or meowing? It was hard to make out, but construction workers investigated the North Carolina site in late 2020, only to find a teeny tiny black-and-white kitten in some rafters. There was no litter or mother in sight; the little stray needed immediate help.

An abandoned kitten

"The mom was seen taking his sibling away," Sparkle Cat Rescue volunteer Sarah Kelly told LoveMeow. "But after being left alone all night with the hope that his mom would come back for him, the workers found him in the morning and contacted us."

Sparkle Cat Rescue

According to its Instagram bio, Sparkle Cat Rescue is a "nonprofit feline rescue organization saving the forgotten felines: abandoned, homeless, neglected. 1000+ rescued since 2014." When the crew got to the kitten, he seemed to be desperate for food and warmth. Perhaps the little guy was the runt.

Foster Mom

Sarah Kelly volunteered to foster the forgotten street kitten, dedicated to giving him what the mama cat couldn't. She put the nameless kitten in an incubator to aid in regulating his body temperature. The poor thing was shaking like a leaf.
